  1. Though its not the right place to enquire someone like this.but would still like to know how was your acl surgery. Are you fine post surgery. how much time it takes for recovery and where you got yourself operated. I am asking all this as i too have met any acl tear and docs have recommended surgery for same.
Please let me know can you play football now post surgery or your knee is still unstable??
I am quite worried about my knee. I met with an accident 2 months back. so want to know your view on surgery. Also let me know is it painful to undergo such treatment ? where you got operated?

what do you say can you wear heels (say 3-5 inches) post surgery ??

  2. Hi - Even though the ACR reconstruction is surgery is a bit complicated, it's very common and quite standard. The recovery time is around 6-8 months. You'll be able to walk with crutches after 2 weeks post-op and without crutches 5-6 weeks post-op. I got operated 3 months back and I can walk fine now. Doctors have advised me not to play football for one year but I know that some people get on field within 6 to 8 months.

    To answer your specific questions:

Please let me know can you play football now post surgery or your knee is still unstable??
    - you can play games like football only an year after surgery but you can start jogging and light running 6 months post-op. 3 months after operation, my knee is still slightly unstable but it's getting better everyday. A lot depends on whether you do physiotherapy and excercises regularly or not.

Also let me know is it painful to undergo such treatment ? where you got operated?
    - You'll be under full anesthesia, so won't feel a thing! The first week post-op is quite painful but if you do icing and take pain killers, it turns out ok.
I got operated in NJ, US but this surgery is quite common in India too.

what do you say can you wear heels (say 3-5 inches) post surgery ??
    - I'm quite sure you can because your knee will be just like normal after you fully recover.

One more thing. I was scared of operation and all and wanted to find out if there's anything else I could do to avoid operation. Apparently, there's nothing you can do. This surgery is the only way to fix and ACL and I'm happy that I got this done.
